On December 16, 2024, the Faculty of Pharmacy at Tishk International University organized an Orientation Program for Grade 1 students, to welcome and introduce them to the academic and administrative aspects of the university and prepare them for their journey ahead.

The program began with a warm welcome from Asst. Prof. Dr. Sultan Abu-Orabi, President of TIU, congratulated the students and encouraged them to work hard in their studies. Following this, Asst. Prof. Dr. Abdulsammad Salahuddin, Dean of the Pharmacy Faculty, welcomed the students and motivated them to strive for excellence in their academic and professional lives.

Dr. Saran Qasim, a research assistant and the event’s host, gave a brief overview of the history and achievements of the Pharmacy Faculty.

Dr. Ali, an Assistant lecturer, introduced the Student Handbook. He explained important topics such as the attendance policy, exam rules, disciplinary actions, summer school, and other academic guidelines.

Dr. Shajwan Salar, the Scientific coordinator, explained how students can use teacher office hours, submit petition letters and medical reports, and provide feedback through surveys. She also introduced the academic advisors (Dr. Esra, Dr. Zeynel, and Dr. Reem Sarmad) to the students and described their role and their importance in guiding students.

Dr. Zahra, the Academic coordinator, gave an overview of the curriculum structure and credit system. She also explained the role of foundation English courses and highlighted the benefits of the faculty’s accreditation, which ensures a high standard of education.

Dr. Rozhan Arif, Dean of Student Representatives, and Dr. Abeer, a research assistant, introduced the Dean of Students (DOS) working methodology. They explained its services, including the Alumni Office, Career Development Center, student clubs, events, sports activities, and community projects. They encouraged students to actively participate in these opportunities to enhance their university experience.

At the end of the program, Asst. Prof Dr. Mohammad Javed Naim, Head of the Pharmacy Department, gave a motivating and welcoming speech to the students and thanks giving speech to the organizers. He encouraged students to work hard, stay focused, and take advantage of all the opportunities available to them during their time at the university.

The program ended with a coffee break which was managed by Dr. Zeynel Polat as Head of the hospitality committee, giving students a chance to meet their peers and faculty members in a relaxed setting.

The orientation program successfully provided Grade 1 students with the information and support they needed to start their academic journey with confidence. The event was made possible with the support of Dr. Abdulsamad Salahuddin, Dean of the Pharmacy Faculty and Dr. Mohammad Javed Naim, Head of the Pharmacy Department.
