“Mental Health: The Hidden Key to Success and Well-being” Seminar

On October 14th, 2024, the Faculty of Pharmacy at Tishk International University (TIU)  hosted a seminar in recognition of World Mental Health Day. The event aimed to raise awareness about the importance of mental health, particularly among younger people. The seminar also aligned with several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), directly promoting SDG 3 by focusing on mental health as a crucial component of overall well-being. Additionally, it emphasized the role of education in mental health awareness, contributing to SDG 4.
Dr. Abdulsamad Salahaddin, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, began the seminar with a welcoming speech. He addressed the mental health challenges faced by the younger generation, stressing how essential mental well-being is for both personal and academic success.

The keynote speaker, Dr. Nasraw Mustafa, a psychiatrist and college lecturer, delivered a talk titled “Mental Health: The Hidden Key to Success and Well-being.” He explained how stress, anxiety, and other mental health issues can impact academic and professional performance. Dr. Nasraw provided practical advice on recognizing signs of mental distress, managing stress, and seeking appropriate help. He also encouraged open conversations about mental health and emphasized the importance of supporting those who may be struggling. The event concluded with a coffee break, offering participants an opportunity to discuss the seminar’s topics and share their thoughts in a relaxed setting.
