Faculty of Pharmacy Wins First Place in 1st Student Graduation Project Competition – May 28-29, 2025
We are proud to announce that the Faculty of Pharmacy has won first place in the 1st Student Graduation Project Competition (SGPC) held on May 28-29, 2025. This competition is a great opportunity for senior bachelor’s students in their final year to present their graduation projects and improve their academic and professional skills.
The winning project was completed by three students: Yaqeen Imad, Wed Omar, and Omed Saadi– under the supervision of Dr. Mohammad Aslam, Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Pharmacy with their project entitled: “Comparative In Vitro Assessment of Antibacterial Activity of Prepared Propolis Ointment Against Common Wound Pathogens.”
In this project, the students extracted, formulated, and evaluated propolis ointment to see how well it works against bacteria that often cause wound infections. Propolis is a natural product made by bees, known for its healing and antibacterial properties. The team compared the effects of their ointment on different types of harmful bacteria, using laboratory tests to move steps toward antibiotic stewardship. Their hard work and excellent results impressed the judges, earning them first place in the competition. The project stood out for its scientific value, real-life importance, and clear presentation.
This achievement shows the high level of teaching, supervision, and research in our faculty of Pharmacy. We are very proud of Dr. Mohammad Aslam, and his students Yaqeen, Wed, and Omed, for their success. Their work is a great example of how science and natural products can help improve health and medicine.
Congratulations to the team for this amazing accomplishment!
