The Faculty of Pharmacy is delighted to celebrate a remarkable achievement as its students secured first position in the 2nd Student Graduation Project Competition (SGPC). The competition provided an excellent platform for final-year undergraduate students to showcase their research projects, demonstrate their scientific abilities, and strengthen their academic and professional competencies. The winning project, entitled “Behavioral and Neuropharmacological Assessment of Ziziphus spina-christi for Anxiety Effect,” was completed by Shkova Abdusattar, Sima Khairullah, Awer Salah, and Sanarya Tahsin under the supervision of Dr. Subashini Urithirapathy. As part of the study, the students successfully extracted compounds from Sidr leaves and developed a formulation to evaluate its effectiveness in alleviating anxiety-related symptoms. Through a series of behavioral and neuropharmacological assessments, the team explored the plant’s potential as a natural alternative for anxiety management.
The project demonstrated the students’ strong scientific skills, dedication, and commitment to advancing pharmaceutical research. Their innovative approach and rigorous methodology impressed the competition judges and ultimately earned them the top position among the participating projects.
The Faculty of Pharmacy extends its sincere congratulations to the students and their supervisor for this remarkable accomplishment. Their success reflects the faculty’s commitment to promoting research excellence, innovation, and practical scientific inquiry among its students.
This achievement serves as an inspiration for future researchers and highlights the significant contributions that pharmacy students can make to the development of healthcare and pharmaceutical sciences.
The faculty of Pharmacy is thankful to the Dean, Dr. Abdul Samad, the HOD, Dr. Mohammad javed Naim for always promoting and pushing staff members to do qualitative research, and the University administration for proving all the necessary facilities.
