As a part of its ongoing commitment to social responsibility, the Faculty of Pharmacy at Tishk International University (TIU) organized a visit to Orphanage Center, Erbil, as a part of community service project on June 30th, 2025. The initiative aimed to provide support and joy to children at a local orphanage center.

The project began with a successful fundraising campaign held on the university campus on February 26th 2025. This event was organized through the collaborative efforts of the Dean of Students, faculty research assistants, and Pharmacy students. Activities such as food preparation, interactive games, and the sale of handmade artwork contributed to the generous collection of funds. Following the campaign, a meeting was held with the orphanage center’s management to identify the specific needs of the children. Based on their needs, major renovations were carried out to the garden and playground. In addition, seating benches as well as rechargeable lights were also purchased and provided for the center as part of the renovation efforts.

The visit had a heartfelt impact on both the children and the participating students. Childrens received essential supplies and thoughtful gifts that brought joy, comfort, and a refreshing break from their daily routines. Meanwhile, the students experienced a profound lesson in empathy, compassion, and the importance of giving back to the community.

Throughout the day, our students demonstrated creativity and kindness through various activities, including group games, and interactive play sessions.

This project was a successful example of community engagement and collaboration. It reflected the values of compassion, social equality, and collective action. It also reinforced the role of higher education in addressing social challenges like poverty and inequality, while nurturing the spirit of service and unity among students and staff alike.
