As part of its ongoing commitment to social responsibility, the Faculty of Pharmacy at Tishk International University (TIU) organized a visit to the Orphanage Center in Erbil on June 30, 2025. The initiative was a component of the faculty’s community service project, aiming to provide support and joy to the children at the local center.

Project Initiatives

The project began with a successful fundraising campaign held on campus on February 26, 2025. The event was a collaborative effort involving the Dean of Students, faculty research assistants, and pharmacy students. Activities such as food preparation, interactive games, and the sale of handmade artwork contributed to the generous collection of funds.

Following the campaign, a meeting was held with the orphanage center’s management to identify the children’s specific needs. Based on this, major renovations were carried out on the garden and playground. Additionally, new seating benches and rechargeable lights were purchased and provided to the center as part of the renovation efforts.

Impact and Experience

The visit had a heartfelt impact on both the children and the participating students. The children received essential supplies and thoughtful gifts that brought them joy and a refreshing break from their daily routines. Simultaneously, the students experienced a profound lesson in empathy, compassion, and the importance of giving back to the community.

Throughout the day, students demonstrated creativity and kindness through various activities, including group games and interactive play sessions. This project was a successful example of community engagement and collaboration, reflecting the values of compassion, social equality, and collective action. It also reinforced the role of higher education in addressing social challenges while nurturing the spirit of service and unity among students and staff.
