At the beginning of the academic year, a planning meeting was held for a community service project focused on raising awareness among adolescents about the dangers of drug misuse and abuse. The initiative was organized under the supervision of the Dean of Students at Tishk International University (TIU), with the support of Asst. Prof. Dr. Abdulsamad Salahuddin, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy and Asst. Prof. Dr. Mohammed Javed Naim, Head of the Pharmacy Department.
In December, a fundraising event was conducted to support the implementation of the project, bringing together students and staff to contribute to the success of the planned outreach activities.
The project included a series of educational visits to local schools. On February 17, 2026, an outreach visit was conducted at Ishik Boys High School, organized by research assistants Dr. Aya Diyar, Dr. Shagull Sameea, and Dr. Daniah Issa, in collaboration with Dr. Serdar Deyan, DOS representative. Pharmacy students delivered interactive presentations on the misuse of antibiotics, caffeine, and nicotine, followed by an engaging Q&A session. An appreciation ceremony was also held on the same day to recognize the efforts of participants, during which certificates were awarded by Asst. Prof. Dr. Mohammed Javed Naim.
On May 12, 2026, a second outreach visit was carried out at Ishik Ronaki School under the supervision of Dr. Reem Sarmad and Dr. Srwa Falah, together with Dr. Serdar Deyan. Similar interactive sessions were delivered, encouraging student participation and discussion, followed by a Q&A session and distribution of small gifts to attendees. Following the visit, a recognition ceremony was organized to acknowledge the dedication and contributions of the participants, during which certificates of appreciation were presented by Asst. Prof. Dr. Mohammed Javed Naim.
Overall, the project reflected strong collaboration between staff and students at Tishk International University and reinforced the Faculty of Pharmacy’s commitment to community engagement and health education. The initiative supports Sustainable Development Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being) and Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education).
