We are proud to announce that the Faculty of Pharmacy has won first place in the 1st Student Graduation Project Competition (SGPC), held on May 28–29, 2025. This competition provides a valuable platform for senior bachelor’s students to present their graduation projects and enhance their academic and professional skills.
The winning project was a collaborative effort by three students—Yaqeen Imad, Wed Omar, and Omed Saadi—under the supervision of Dr. Mohammad Aslam, Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Pharmacy. Their project was titled: “Comparative In Vitro Assessment of Antibacterial Activity of Prepared Propolis Ointment Against Common Wound Pathogens.”
About the Winning Project
In this research, the students successfully extracted, formulated, and evaluated a propolis ointment to test its effectiveness against common bacteria that cause wound infections. Propolis, a natural product created by bees, is known for its healing and antibacterial properties. The team meticulously compared the effects of their ointment on different types of harmful bacteria through laboratory tests, making a significant step toward antibiotic stewardship.
The project stood out for its scientific value, real-world importance, and clear presentation, which impressed the judges and earned the team the top prize. This achievement reflects the high standards of teaching, supervision, and research within our Faculty of Pharmacy.
We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Dr. Mohammad Aslam and his students, Yaqeen, Wed, and Omed, for their remarkable success. Their work serves as an excellent example of how science and natural products can be leveraged to improve health and medicine.
