On February 6, 2025, the Faculty of Pharmacy at Tishk International University organized the 7th International Pharmacy Workshop (IPW) to mark World Cancer Day. The workshop’s theme was “Recent Progress in Diagnosis and Treatment of Cancer,” and it was held in collaboration with Takvin and Amr Lab.

The event began with a welcome speech by Prof. Dr. Sultan Abu Orabi, President of TIU. Asst. Prof. Dr. Abdulsamad Salahuddin, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, introduced the workshop’s theme, emphasizing the need for continuous research.

The first session featured three speakers:

  • Dr. Luqman Rahman, Assistant Professor in Oncology, spoke about “From Awareness to Action: Empowering the Next Generation in the Fight Against Cancer.”
  • Dr. Suzan Hoshyar, Director of the Breast Center and Adjunct Faculty at UKH, presented “Breast Cancer – We Can Fight It, It Is Not a Death Sentence.”
  • Dr. Fahad Abdulwahab, a Hematopathologist, gave a talk on “Delivery of Advanced Hemato-Oncological Lab Tests to Those in Need: Creativity, Communication, Collaboration.”

The second session featured two online keynote speakers:

  • Dr. Amin Malik from Research LTD discussed “Botanical Drugs for Cancer Therapy.”
  • Dr. Hassan A. Rathore, Associate Professor of Pharmaceutical Sciences, presented “Molecular Mechanisms in Lung Adenocarcinoma.”

The workshop ended with a certificate distribution ceremony to recognize the efforts of the organizers, committee members, and volunteers. This event supported better healthcare, high-quality education, scientific research, and collaboration, which are all essential for making progress in the fight against cancer. The workshop was made possible with the support of the Rectorate, Dr. Abdulsamad Salahuddin, Dean of the Pharmacy Faculty, and Dr. Mohammad Javed Naim, Head of the Pharmacy Department.
