The Faculty of Pharmacy at Tishk International University is proud to highlight the community service efforts of Ms. Dania Awni, Assistant Lecturer, who participated in the “10 Problems, 10 Solutions” initiative organized by the Kurdistan Foundation in May 2026. The initiative encouraged participants to identify real challenges within their communities and develop practical solutions, with financial support provided by the Foundation to implement selected projects. As part of this program, Ms. Dania identified the lack of adequate outdoor shelter for elderly residents in a local care center. The elderly individuals were unable to comfortably enjoy outdoor spaces due to harsh weather conditions, including intense sunlight during summer and rainfall during colder seasons. To address this issue, a protective shelter was installed, providing a safe and comfortable environment where residents can spend time outdoors regardless of weather conditions. This project has significantly improved the well-being and quality of life of the elderly residents by enabling them to enjoy fresh air and social interaction in a protected setting. This meaningful initiative reflects the values of social responsibility, compassion, and community engagement promoted by Tishk International University and supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being) and SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities).
