On June 10, 2026, students from the Faculty of Pharmacy at Tishk International University successfully conducted a community service visit to Raparin Teaching Hospital in Erbil. The visit was organized as part of the faculty’s ongoing commitment to community engagement, social responsibility, and healthcare support initiatives. Through a fundraising campaign organized by the students, funds were collected to purchase new bed covers for the hospital. During the visit, the students contributed to improving the hospital environment by replacing old bed covers with new ones, aiming to provide greater comfort and a more welcoming atmosphere for patients. The initiative was carried out under the supervision and support of Dr. Rozhan Arif (DOS representative), whose guidance and encouragement played a significant role in the success of the activity. The students worked together as a team, demonstrating commitment, compassion, and a strong sense of responsibility toward the community. The administration and staff of Raparin Teaching Hospital warmly welcomed the visiting team and expressed their sincere appreciation for the support provided. The students were received with great hospitality, and hospital representatives acknowledged the positive impact of the contribution on both the healthcare environment and patient care experience. This visit served as a valuable opportunity for students to apply the principles of community service and social responsibility while strengthening their connection with healthcare institutions. It also highlighted the importance of collaboration between educational institutions and healthcare facilities in promoting public welfare and supporting local communities.

This community service initiative also contributed to several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It supported SDG 3: Good Health and Well-Being by helping to improve the hospital environment and enhance patient comfort through the provision of new bed covers. The project advanced SDG 4: Quality Education by providing students with practical experiences in community engagement, leadership, and social responsibility beyond the classroom. It promoted SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities by supporting a public healthcare institution that serves diverse members of the community, helping to improve healthcare experiences for all patients regardless of their background. The Faculty of Pharmacy extends its gratitude to Raparin Teaching Hospital for their warm reception and appreciation, as well as to Dr. Rozhan Arif for her continuous support in encouraging meaningful community service activities.
