On September 25, 2024, the Faculty of Pharmacy at Tishk International University (TIU) held its 8th National Pharmacy Workshop in observance of World Pharmacist Day, with the theme of “Global Health Needs.”
The event commenced with a welcoming address by Prof. Dr. Sultan Abu Orabi, President of Tishk International University, followed by remarks from Dr. Abdulsamad, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy. Dr. Abdulsamad highlighted the significant achievement of the pharmacy program’s recent accreditation by the European agency AHPGS.
The workshop featured a series of presentations by distinguished speakers:
- Dr. Shajwan Salar led the first session on “Comprehensive discussion on global health, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and the critical issue of antimicrobial resistance.”
- Dr. Alan Ryadh provided an overview of the pharmacy profession with a focus on clinical pharmacy practice.
- Dr. Marwan Qasim discussed the role of community pharmacies in the medical society.
After a brief intermission, engaging competitions were held for pharmacy students.
The event successfully highlighted the vital role of pharmacists in healthcare and fostered important discussions on global health challenges. The workshop was concluded by Dr. Mohammed Javed Naim, Head of the Pharmacy Department, who expressed gratitude to all organizers, speakers, sponsors, and volunteers for their contributions.
This workshop contributed to multiple SDGs by focusing on good health and quality education.
