The Faculty of Pharmacy at Tishk International University was invited by Paky Hospital to join the 3rd World Cancer Day Event on the 5th of February,2022. World Cancer Day is an international day marked on February 4th, aiming to raise awareness of cancer and to encourage its prevention, detection, and treatment.

Paky Hospital, one of the most professional and advanced hospitals in Erbil city, organized this event for the third time under the name of “cancer is not the end of life” aimed to show people how to deal with cancer patients and share stories by cancer health professionals and cancer patients.

The purpose of World Cancer Day was to prevent millions of deaths each year by raising awareness and education about cancer. The event also aimed at pressing governments and individuals across the world to take action against the disease and to develop practical strategies to reduce the burden of cancer.

A group of students from the Faculty of Pharmacy gathered and visited the hospital for this purpose with their Class Advisor Dr.Saya Ameer. This event commenced with a welcoming speech by the hospital owner and was followed by presentations delivered by cancer health professionals, which focused on raising awareness and education on cancer, the general risk factors, ways of preventing ourselves from cancer, and discussing the importance of early cancer detection through annual tests that one must perform after a certain age.
The students returned valuable feedback and found the event very informative and beneficial.

On behalf of the Faculty of Pharmacy, we would like to thank Paky Hospital for the invitation and their hospitality; it was truly a privilege to be part of this event.
