White Coat Ceremony 2022-2023
The Faculty of Pharmacy and Dean of Students at Tishk International University organize the White Coat Ceremony every year in which faculty students are gathered to take their medical oath to protect and preserve lives and maintain their ethical and legal obligations throughout their careers. This year, the ceremony was held for first-year students on February 20th, 2023.
As the host of the ceremony, Dr. Muhammad Sultan welcomed the students and the dear doctors and staff of the Faculty of Pharmacy. The ceremony commenced with a speech delivered by the Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Professor Dr. Vedat Koksal, who shed light on the importance of this event for medical field students and the significance of what a white coat means to a student studying in pharmacy and how they should value the responsibility of wearing one in their studies and future careers.
Following this, the Dean of Students, Dr. Mohammed Abdulghani, presented a motivational speech to the first-year students, welcoming them to the 2022-2023 academic year. In order to appreciate all the hard work and the passion current students have shown, the faculty prepared Certificates of Appreciation for the students taking place as first, second and third among the faculty in; first, second, third, fourth and fifth stages of pharmacy in recognition of the value of studying hard and achieving one’s goal. The certificates were presented by the Dean of Faculty of Pharmacy, Professor Dr. Vedat Koksal, Dean of Students, Dr. Mohammed Abdulghani, Head of Faculty of Pharmacy, Dr. Esra Bayraktar and Coordinator of Faculty of Pharmacy, Dr. Rojan Arif.
As a tribute to continuous hard work and passion, Dr. Parua Walzi, the first graduate batch and first-place student now working as a Research Assistant at the Faculty of Pharmacy, gave a brief speech to motivate and encourage the new students. In the speech, she mentioned that it is essential to study to acquire knowledge and not only for the purpose of high marks. She also emphasized how anything is possible if one earnestly works towards it.
To end the ceremony, students were then asked to wear their white coat and repeat the oath of a pharmacy student in which they vowed to dedicate their lives to helping patients considering their welfare and ethical values and morals. The Head of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Dr. Esra Bayraktar, took on the honourable task of administering the oath to the newly-enrolled first-year students. With grace and poise, she eloquently narrated the solemn oath, impressing upon the students the gravity of the commitments they were about to undertake. The students, eagerly and with utmost respect, repeated the oath in unison, underlining their unwavering dedication to uphold the principles of their chosen profession. It was a momentous occasion, marking the beginning of their journey towards becoming healthcare professionals and one they will forever cherish as a testament to their integrity and honour.
