Noble Institute Visits The Faculty of Pharmacy at TIU

On February 12th, 2023, Noble Institute visited the Faculty of Pharmacy at Tishk International University for the purpose of students studying to become pharmacy assistants at the institute to have an idea of what is studied at the faculty.                     

The visit started with a speech by the Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Professor Dr. Vedat Koksal, extending a warm welcome to the Head of the Pharmacy Department at Noble Institute, Assistant Lecturer Narmin Mahmoud Ismail and the second-stage students visiting the faculty.

The Dean’s speech was followed by a brief speech by the Head of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Dr. Esra Bayraktar, who gave an overview of the faculty’s system of acceptance and registration, as well as the different departments it withholds, explaining the role of each department within the pharmacy. The different academic and social activities were also explained to the students, emphasising the importance of extracurricular activities in the faculty.

The guests and students then took a small coffee break before beginning their tour inside the faculty to each lab. They started with the Pharmaceutical Technology Lab, in which Dr. Sarmad Jabbar gave a small introduction to the lab, explaining the procedures undertaken to formulate, process and produce drug formulations in the form of tablets, suppositories, capsules, as well as ointments, creams and gels.

The tour continued to the Clinical Biochemistry and the Industrial Pharmacy Lab, where Dr. Zahra Saad explained the lab equipment used for clinical biochemistry studies. Dr. Dlanpar Dzhwar also explained the devices used in industrial pharmacies, such as dryers and compressors, to prepare tablets and other drug formulations.

The following lab was the Pharmacognosy Lab, in which Dr. Muhammad Sultan explained the importance of herbal-based drugs in pharmacy and the procedures undertaken to extract chemical constituents used for medicinal applications in pharmacy and drug formulations.

The tour ended by visiting the Pharmacology Lab, where Dr. Subasini Urithrapathy and Dr. Ibrahim Ahmad explained the experiments conducted within the lab using the different pharmacological devices on animals such as mice in order. They explained each device and their use for research on the different drug classes using animals.
