The Faculty of Pharmacy at Tishk International University organized educational visits to Bio Labs, Erbil; an advanced biomedical laboratory, over six weeks. The visits were scheduled on Oct 30, Nov 6 & 27, and Dec 4,11 & 17, 2024, with different groups of students participating each week and guided by Dr. Dania Awni Kamal during the trips. These visits aimed to provide our pharmacy students with practical exposure to laboratory equipment and techniques essential for modern diagnostics. During the visits, students were introduced to various devices, including spectrophotometers, hematology analyzers, centrifuge machines, biochemistry analyzers, etc. The laboratory staff demonstrated how diagnostic tests are performed, explained the functioning of each device, and highlighted their importance in diagnosing and monitoring diseases. Students also gained insights into equipment calibration, accuracy, and maintenance principles, which are crucial for obtaining reliable results. This initiative bridged the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world applications, offering students a clearer understanding of the role of biomedical technology in healthcare. The visit was facilitated by Dr. Abdulsamad Salahuddin, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, and Dr. Mohammad Javed Naim, Head of the Pharmacy Department, in collaboration with the rectorate for essential provisions.
