6th International Pharmacy Workshop
The 6th International Pharmacy Workshop was conducted by the Faculty of Pharmacy at Tishk International University (TIU) on May 29th, 2024, with the central theme of “Innovative Research & Development to Promote Wellbeing Among Cancer Patients.” Aya Diyar, Chemist, served as the host of this esteemed event, which drew a distinguished group of speakers and participants who are committed to the advancement of cancer research and patient care.
The workshop commenced with the national anthem, which was followed by a series of captivating promotional videos that emphasised the university’s dedication to excellence in all of its faculties.
Professor Dr. Sultan Abu Orabi, the President of Tishk International University, delivered a warm and inspiring welcome speech. He was succeeded by Assistant Professor Dr. Abdulsamad Salahuddin, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, who expressed his enthusiasm for the workshop’s potential to promote innovations in patient care and cancer treatment.
JAIP’s Founder and CEO, Dr. Khaled Khraisat, delivered the inaugural keynote speech, which focused on the “Oncology Scientific Research and Technology Transfer Challenges in the MENA Region.” Dr. Khraisat’s perspectives regarding the distinctive challenges and prospects of this field were both thought-provoking and enlightening.
The second keynote address was delivered by Dr. Yazan Al Thaher from the Faculty of Pharmacy at Philadelphia University, Jordan, on the topic of “Nanotechnology in Cancer Diagnosis and Treatment.” His presentation emphasised the transformative potential of nanotechnology in improving the accuracy and efficacy of cancer diagnostics and therapies.
The third speaker, Dr. Saya Salahadeen Najmadeen from Nanakali Hospital in Erbil, Iraq, delivered a compelling study titled “Role of Interim PET-CT Scan on Long Term Follow Up of Patients with Hodgkin Lymphoma: A Single-Center Study in a Developing Country.” Dr. Najmadeen’s research yielded valuable data and insights into the practical applications of PET-CT scans in patient follow-up.
Prof. Dr. Tarek A. Elkhooly delivered the final keynote address, which focused on the “Double Entrapment Strategy to Control the Release of Cytotoxic Cationic Antiseptics for Fabrication of Antibacterial Bone Implant Scaffold.” His pioneering approach to antibacterial bone implants underscored substantial progress in the intersection of orthopaedic and oncology research.
The workshop concluded with a ceremony that recognised the speakers and sponsors for their invaluable contributions to the event. Certificates and plaquettes were distributed to them. This event exemplified the university’s commitment to enhancing patient outcomes and fostering global health and well-being by serving as a beacon of innovative research and education.
