The International Pharmacy Workshop (IPW) 2024 is the 6th International Pharmacy workshop organized by the faculty of Pharmacy, Tishk International University, Erbil, Kurdistan Region, Iraq. This workshop theme is “New Research and Innovative Development of Anticancer drug therapy.”

Cancer remains one of the leading causes of death worldwide. The major contributing factors include the molecular changes or mutations in the genetic material of the cells due to various environmental stresses or inherited genetic disorders. Conventional chemotherapy has been an effective treatment for cancer, but its success is limited due to off-target toxicity and the development of drug-resistant in tumor cells. Over the past several years, immunotherapy, targeted gene therapies have been gaining attention due to their specificity towards cancer cells. These therapies are based on molecular changes in tumors cells, specifically inhibit biologic signaling pathways that drive tumors growth and/or specific oncogenes or proteins to induce apoptosis in cancer cells and activation of the immune system, which recognizes and destroys cancer cells while minimizing off-target toxicity.

Aims and Objectives

The brain storming scientific sessions of International Pharmacy Workshop (IPW) – 2024, will highlight the need to focus on New Research and Innovative Development of Anticancer drug therapy.”

About Workshop

The Workshop entitled “New Research and Innovative Development of Anticancer drug therapy” provides an international platform to practicing professionals, academicians, researchers and students to deliberate and exchange of ideas to understand the current scenario in Pharmacy. 6th International Pharmacy Workshop – (IPW) – 2024 has been arranged in collaboration with Qatar University, Doha, Qatar.

In 6th IPW -2024, we will revel recent advances, investigate current scientific challenges, and weigh the benefits of emerging therapies. The Precision Era of medicine gave the optimistic view of surviving this fatal disease. This workshop aims to provide the various methods and therapeutic approaches for building the precision era in health care. This is a scientific event to explore the current advances in pharmacology and a wide range of possible therapies utilized to prevent and cure cancer.

Outcomes

After participating in this conference, attendees should be able to understand that the landscape of cancer treatment has dramatically changed over the last four decades. The age when surgery and radiotherapy were the only effective ways to fight against tumor growth has ended. A complex scenario where the molecular features of tumors seem to be the cornerstone of any therapy is now emerging.

  • Explore to provide an overview of the different therapeutic approaches to cancer treatment.
  • Discuss the role of modern tools and techniques in cancer.
  • It will help the reader to acknowledge the pivotal role of some classic cancer therapies, including surgery, radiation, chemotherapy, and endocrine therapy, now better understood in the mechanism underpinning their efficacy.
  • Discuss emerging therapy trends and challenges in cancer.
  • Discuss and apply recent research findings related to useful cancer therapy, especially drug discovery, development, and formulation.
  • Discuss the importance of systemic treatment and receive an update on the novel, upcoming therapies of the current targeted therapy era, such as new antibodies, small molecules, anti-angiogenics, viral therapy, and the development of new biomarkers, and how they should rule and determine the future of therapeutic research in cancer.

Speakers
