The National Tishk Pharmaceutical Conference (NTPC) 2024 is the 4th National Conference on Pharmaceutical Sciences organized by the faculty of Pharmacy, Tishk International University, Erbil, Kurdistan Region, Iraq. This conference is focused on the current development of herbal medicines and modern therapies, with the theme Exploring new Research and Innovative development in Pharmacology and Nanotechnology.”

Herbal medicine, a multi-component treatment, has been extensively practiced for treating various symptoms and diseases. However, its molecular mechanism of action on the human body is unknown, which impedes the development and application of herbal medicine. To address this, recent studies are increasingly adopting systems pharmacology, which interprets pharmacological effects of drugs from consequences of the interaction networks that drugs might have. Most conventional network-based approaches collect associations of herb-compound, compound-target, and target-disease from individual databases, respectively, and construct an integrated network of herb-compound-target-disease to study the complex mechanisms underlying herbal treatment.

In 4th NTPC we will also explore the new ideas and concept on global scale and the topics. More recently, rapid advances in high-throughput omics technology have led numerous studies to exploring gene expression profiles induced by herbal treatments to elicit information on direct associations between herbs and genes at the genome-wide scale. In this review, we summarize key databases and computational methods utilized in systems pharmacology for studying herbal medicine. We also highlight recent studies that identify modes of action or novel indications of herbal medicine by harnessing drug-induced transcriptome data.

The 4th NTPC 2024 will also focus on active compounds stemming from medicinal herbs are appealing in modern drug development due to their high efficacies and low toxicities. However, new therapeutic opportunities for numerous herbal compounds are yet to be identified. Synergy is one of the major advantages of multi-component herbal medicine. Network-based strategies enable us to efficiently explore herb combinations and to better infer the mechanisms of synergistic action of herbs or herbal compounds.

In 4th NTPC 2024 we will celebrate recent advances, investigate current scientific challenges, and weigh the benefits of emerging therapies. The Precision Era of medicine gave the optimistic view of surviving this fatal disease. This conference aims to provide the various methods and therapy approaches for building the precision era in human health care. This is a scientific event to explore the current advances in pharmacology and a wide range of possible therapies utilized to prevent and cure diseases. The main objective of this conference is to dive deep into health care via herbal therapies.

The goal of the conference

  • The goal of 4th NTPC 2024 is to deliver an outstanding program for exchanging ideas and authoritative views by leading scientists from the pharmaceutical arena, covering the entire spectrum of research in traditional and modern herbal therapy by sharing their experiences concerning the exemplary transference in drug discovery and development.
  • The 4th NTPC 2024 is especially focused on the role of drug molecules in herbal therapy.
  • To bring together scientific experts from across the country in order to catalyze and advance scientific knowledge about the current herbal drug regimen, present recent research findings, and promote scientific collaborations throughout the Iraq region.
  • 4th NTPC 2024 also aims to provide a platform to develop cross-cultural relationships.
  • To bring together community leaders, scientists, and policy leaders to promote and enhance programmatic collaborations to address the regional, national, and local responses more effectively to society and overcome barriers that limit access to health care and services.
