3rd National Tishk Pharmaceutical Conference

(NTPC-2023)

29-30 April 2023, Erbil, Iraq

Theme: Recent Advances in Cancer Therapy (RACT)

About the Conference

The National Tishk Pharmaceutical Conference (NTPC) 2023 is the 3rd National Conference on Pharmaceutical Sciences organised by the Faculty of Pharmacy, Tishk International University, Erbil, Kurdistan Region, Iraq. This conference focuses on the current development of cancer medicines and modern therapies, with the theme Recent Advances in Cancer Therapy (RACT).”

Cancer remains one of the leading causes of death worldwide. The major contributing factors include molecular changes or mutations in the genetic material of the cells due to various environmental stresses or inherited genetic disorders. Conventional chemotherapy has been an effective cancer treatment, but its success is limited due to off-target toxicity and drug-resistant development in tumour cells. Over the past several years, immunotherapy and targeted gene therapies have been gaining attention due to their specificity towards cancer cells. These therapies are based on molecular changes in tumour cells, explicitly inhibiting biologic signalling pathways that drive tumour growth and/or specific oncogenes or proteins to induce apoptosis in cancer cells and activation of the immune system recognises and destroys cancer cells while minimising off-target toxicity.

In the 3rd NTPC, we will also explore the topics and new ideas and concepts on a global scale. Cancer biology & genetics, organ-defined cancers, oncology: sub-specialities, radiation oncology, surgical oncology, cancer & stem cell therapy, precision cancer medicine & oncology, cancer biomarkers, cancer epidemiology, cancer prevention & research, cancer therapy & treatments, cancer pharmacology, cancer vaccines, cancer immunology & immunotherapy, oncology, nursing and care, complementary and alternative methods.

The 3rd NTPC 2023 will also focus on cancer stem cells, cancer basic & applied research tumours, anti-cancer drug discovery, clinical oncology, and personalised cancer medicine. It will give us novel insight into the complexity of the connections between cancer and metabolism, immune checkpoints, lifestyle and nutrition, and cancer: psychological & social aspects to deliver an outstanding conference with the right balance of clinical relevance and treatment therapies.

In the 3rd NTPC, we will celebrate recent advances, investigate current scientific challenges, and weigh the benefits of emerging therapies. The Precision Era of medicine gave the optimistic view of surviving this fatal disease. This conference aims to provide various methods and therapy approaches for building the precision era in cancer care. This is a scientific event to explore the current advances in oncology and a wide range of possible therapies utilised to prevent and cure cancer. The main objective of this conference is to dive deep into cancer care via medicines.

The goal of the conference

  • The goal of the 3rd NTPC 2023 is to deliver an outstanding program for exchanging ideas and authoritative views by leading scientists from the pharmaceutical arena, covering the entire spectrum of research in traditional and modern cancer therapy by sharing their experiences concerning the exemplary transference in drug discovery and development.
  • The 3rd NTPC 2023 is primarily focused on the role of drug molecules in cancer therapy.
  • To bring together scientific experts from across the country in order to catalyse and advance scientific knowledge about the current cancer drug regimen, present recent research findings, and promote scientific collaborations throughout the Iraq region.
  • 3rd NTPC 2023 also aims to provide a platform to develop cross-cultural relationships.
  • To bring together community leaders, scientists, and policy leaders to promote and enhance programmatic collaborations to address the regional, national, and local responses more effectively to society and overcome barriers that limit access to cancer care and services.

Highlights

  • Explore the implications of a changing health system on cancer therapy, prevention, and control.
  • Impact of disparities on access and quality of cancer therapy, prevention, and control.
  • Cancer therapy and a focus on primary therapy prevention.
  • Innovations in cancer therapy research and technology.
  • Global cancer initiatives.
  • Better clinical practice.

Outcomes

After participating in this conference, attendees should be able to understand that the landscape of cancer treatment has dramatically changed over the last four decades. The age when surgery and radiotherapy were the only effective ways to fight against tumour growth has ended. A complex scenario where the molecular features of tumours seem to be the cornerstone of any therapy is now emerging.

  • Explore to provide an overview of the different therapeutic approaches to cancer treatment.
  • Discuss the role of modern tools and techniques in cancer.
  • It will help the reader to acknowledge the pivotal role of some traditional cancer therapies, including surgery, radiation, chemotherapy, and endocrine therapy, now better understood in the mechanism underpinning their efficacy.
  • Discuss emerging therapy trends and challenges in cancer.
  • Discuss and apply recent research findings on beneficial cancer therapy, especially drug discovery, development, and formulation.
  • Discuss the importance of systemic treatment and receive an update on the novel, upcoming therapies of the current targeted therapy era, such as new antibodies, small molecules, anti-angiogenic, viral therapy, and the development of new biomarkers, and how they should rule and determine the future of therapeutic research in cancer.
