National Pharmacy Workshop (NPW) 2021 is the 3rd National Workshop on Pharmaceutical Sciences Organized by the faculty of Pharmacy, Tishk International University, Erbil, Kurdistan Region, Iraq that focused on advancement and opportunities of particulate drug delivery systems as the potential drug carriers, with the Theme “Particulate drug delivery system: advancement and opportunities as potential drug carriers”.
Several dosage forms have been developed to treat/ prevent the diseases/ ailments and to maintain healthy life. The need for efficacious and safe use of drug turned the desire to developed new drug formulation that can reduce toxicity, prolong drug release with better/ improved drug targeting abilities. Various drug carrier systems were developed like nanoparticles, liposome, niosomes, phytosomes, resealed RBCs, carbon etc., under particulate drug delivery systems. These particulate drug delivery systems have major advantage of modification in target ability by surface modification or by addition of surface components. The purpose of 3rd national pharmacy workshop is to focus on preparation and application of various particulate drug delivery systems to explore new opportunities for drug targeting.
Goal of the Workshop
- The goal of NPW2021 is to explore the various types of particulate drug delivery system like nanoparticles, liposome, niosomes, phytosome, ethiosomes, resealed RBCs, carbon particles etc regarding composition, preparation and application in order to achieve better and targeted drug release.
- This workshop will provide some basic and pragmatic approaches to develop the particulate drug delivery systems.
- To exchange of ideas and authoritative views by leading scientists of the pharmaceutical arena covering the entire spectrum of pharmaceutical research in formulation development.
- The aim of NPW2021 is to provide a platform to develop multidisciplinary cross-cultural relationships among different scientific branches in health care.
- To gather the scientific experts from every corner of the Kurdistan region with the aim, to catalyze and advance scientific knowledge about the current advancements and opportunities in particulate drug delivery systems by promoting and enhancing the scientific collaborations around this region.
- To unite the scientific community’s leaders, scientists, and policy leaders to promote the programmatic collaborations for more effectively address in the regional, national and local responses to society and overcome barriers that limit access to health care and services.
Scope of the workshop
This Workshop is designed to attract scientific leaders from the following arenas:
- Particulate drug delivery systems
- Preparation of particulate drug delivery systems
- Advancement and opportunities as potential drug carriers
- Importance and application of nanotechnology in particulate drug delivery systems
- Particulate drug delivery systems of phyto-constituents.
- Development of particulate drug delivery systems for major health areas such as Diabetes, CVD, Cancer, Malaria, Obesity, etc.
Outcomes of the workshop
After participating in this Workshop, attendees should be able to
- Discuss the basics, advancements and opportunities of particulate drug delivery systems.
- Differentiate among particulate drug delivery systems.
- Understand the different properties of drug, excipients to develop particulate drug delivery systems.
- Discuss emerging trends and challenges in particulate drug delivery systems.
- Development of new and novel particulate drug delivery systems.
- Development of herbal particulate drug delivery systems.
