The Faculty of Pharmacy, Tishk International University organised an international Pharminar (Pharmacy Webinar) on 29th Sep, in continuation of celebration of world Pharmacy Week 2020.

The Pharminar consisted of two sessions, and lasted for 90 minutes.
The two prominent keynote speakers from two different continents, Saudi Arabia and Australia, offered the audience a comprehensive global understanding of equipping the pharmacist to cope up with the changing needs in the health care system.

The Pharminar started with the greetings of World Pharmacist Day and followed by welcome speech delivered by Dr. Muath Sheet. The first speaker, Dr Majid Ahmad Ganaie, (Associate Professor and Program Director, Buraydah College of Dentistry and Pharmacy, Alqaseem, Saudi Arabia) addressed his talk under the theme of “Transforming Global Health”. He showcased the current challenges as the opportunity in transforming the healthcare landscape at the community level via various services such as medication counselling vaccination compliance towards quality use of medicines, disease management as well as enhancing the quality of life in serving community. In addition, Dr. Ganaie highlighted about the new era of transformative education for the Future work force development.
He further emphasized on the development of competence, skills, knowledge and attitude among the Pharmacists and pharmaceutical scientist in order to meet the needs of the public and enhanced interaction with other health care professionals. The need based competent health care force can be generated by producing competent pharmacist by the quality education only, he concluded.

Dr Kamal Dua, (Faculty, Discipline of Pharmacy, Graduate School of Health, University of Technology, Sydney) was the second distinguished keynote speaker for the Pharminar.

Dr. Dua outlined his lecture around “Relevance of academic and research collaboration in current changing and Challenging environment of higher education”.
He began his theme with the quotation “collaborate to learn and learn to collaborate” and highlighted the win-win condition for collaboration between Universities and University-academia interface as well.

Dr. Dua is the coordinator for the postgraduate program, GMP(Good Manufacturing Practice) at UTS and encouraged the audience to apply for this two year course. The course  offers two year work permit after the successful completion of the, he added.

He concluded his talk by invitng students from TIU to Join his post graduate GMP progarmme at UTS, Sydney.

The speakers acknowledged and expressed their gratitude to the organizing committee, Dr Muaz Sheet, Dr. Esra Tariq and Dr. Abdul Samad. Dr Esra extended vote of thanks to the speakers, audience and University administration. Academicians, researchers, Pharmacists, students and people from different disciplines and across the globe joined the event.
