Community Service Project: Orphanage Center Visit

The Faculty of Pharmacy at Tishk International University (TIU) organized an inspiring project, held on May 20th, 2024, as part of the community service initiative to provide assistance to children at the nearby orphanage. The project was initiated with a successful fundraising event that took place on the university campus. Dean of Students members and research assistants at the faculty, in collaboration with the students, organised a variety of activities, such as food preparation, games, and handmade art, which led to a substantial collection of funds for the project’s purpose. A meeting was subsequently arranged with the heads of the orphanage centre to ascertain the needs of the children.

The visit had a profound impact on both the children at the orphanage and our Pharmacy students. The children were able to create happy memories and experience a welcome break from their routine as a result of the gifts and necessities, which brought them much-needed joy and comfort. The experience was an invaluable lesson in the significance of community service, generosity, and empathy for faculty students. They demonstrated their creativity, kindness, and teamwork by actively engaging in a diverse array of activities, including games, arts and crafts, storytelling, and group play. The interactions between our students and the children at the orphanage were delightful, as they shared moments of genuine connection, stories, and laughter.

Our students and community members collaborated to ensure that this community service project was a successfully completed.  It fostered a culture of compassion and generosity within our university community and helps promote a meaningful contribution to the fight against poverty and inequality.
