Memorial Service for Soma Nyaz

On March 28th, 2023, a memorial service was held to honour and remember the life of Soma Nyaz, a fourth-stage student at the Faculty of Pharmacy at Tishk International University. The service was attended by Soma Nyaz’s family members, the faculty staff, as well as Soma’s classmates and friends, who came together to express their deepest condolences and pay their final respects to Soma.

The memorial service was held in the faculty conference hall, filled with mourners paying tribute to Soma’s life. The ceremony commenced with a recitation of the holy Quran, followed by speeches from the Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Dr. Vedat Koksal, expressing his condolences over the loss of such an outstanding student. During the event, memories of Soma at the university were shared, and her wonderful accomplishments throughout her short years studying at the faculty were also highlighted.

Soma’s father also shared some beautiful words written in a poem in memory of their beloved daughter, and a few of the doctors and students spoke about her presence at the university and how her loss will always be felt among the staff and the students, and she will always be remembered through the memories she helped to create.

“Soma was a quiet, smart, and hardworking student who was loved and respected by all who knew her,” said one of Soma’s lecturers. “Her passion for pharmacy and participation were inspiring, and we are all deeply saddened by her untimely passing.”

Soma’s classmates and friends also spoke about their memories of her, describing her as a kind and caring person who was always there to offer support and encouragement. “We will always cherish the memories we shared with her and keep her spirit alive in our hearts,” said Sana, one of her classmates.

The memorial service ended with prayers and sharing Quran and praying beads in the name of Soma, which were given by her classmates to all the attendees. The loss of Soma has deeply affected the Faculty of Pharmacy, and her memory will forever be cherished by those who knew and loved her. We ask everyone to keep her in their prayers, and may God ease the pain on her family and give them the patience to handle such a loss.
